Monday 08 December 2025 | 10:00am - 1:00pm | Rochdale

Start-Up Focus: Price, Cost & Value – Building a Profitable Business from Day One

Starting a business is exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming if you are not confident with the numbers. Start-up Business Fundamentals – Understanding Price, Cost and Value is a newly designed practical workshop that helps you get clear on the financial basics every new business owner needs.

Attendees will learn what their costs really are, how to set prices that make sense, and how to understand the value they offer to customers.

Through practical examples and simple financial models, the workshop shows how costs influence margins, how price communicates value, and how both shape customer perceptions and business viability.

Everything will be broken down into easy-to-follow ideas and real examples, so attendees can make smarter decisions from the start. By the end of the session, they will feel more confident managing their money, avoiding common mistakes, and building a pricing approach that supports a healthy, sustainable business.

Price, cost and value are foundational elements of building a business and an area that far too many businesses get wrong and pay for the price for their mistakes. They under cost themselves, which leads to underearning, and not being valued and often being trapped in price wars with the wrong customers. Get this wrong at the beginning and it’s difficult to raise prices.

Pricing is also based on your current circumstances; what do they need or expect to earn from the business? Andrew will introduce some pricing models and cover factors like fixed and variable costs, start-up costs and working capital, profit margins and not-for-profit considerations as well, and perceived and actual value.

Attendees don't need an accountancy degree to attend. This isn't a numbers workshop per se, but more focused on helping them to understand and ensure that they consider relevant factors in understanding their costs to establish their pricing in order to remain profitable with their chosen business model.

Only participants with a confirmed booking will be admitted to the workshop
